2. Kyle finished fixing the fireplace wall in the "guitar room". I'll have to take pictures now that we've decorated for Christmas. I'm excited to see what else he does! I love having a manly man that has some serious style.
3. Christmas craft with Sarah. Sarah and I thought we'd start on a little craft for a few people for Christmas. In my mind, it was a 10 hour project. When it took us almost 8 hours to find what we needed to start, I knew we were in trouble. I'm thinking I'm mid-50 hour project. Minimum. It was so fun having a girls day with Sarah though that I didn't/don't even care. Some family members might be getting their Christmas presents a little late, but I'm working on it!
4. NFR with Casey. I love any and all rodeos, but this-- wow.
5. UNLV basketball game with Krystal and her nephew. We picked a terrible game to go to.
6. I made Kyle dinner. This seems ridiculous that it's worth mentioning, but we rarely eat dinner together, and when we do, Kyle usually likes to make recipes up. This time though, I surprised him with this easy dish that he actually loved-- Penne Bake! Now that I'm allergic to chicken (booooooooooo), it's sometimes hard to come up with things that I actually want to cook, so this will definitely be one I'm making again!
7. Christmas shopping -- I'm so excited for Christmas! I hate blowing my budget just a little less than how much I love surprising people with Christmas gifts!
8. Christmas dinner with Kyle's family. Since not everyone's going to be around on Christmas, Kyle's mom decided to have Christmas dinner early. It was fun having everyone together. Kyle dragged me out with the guys to go shooting and then we headed home for a delicous meal. It's always far from healthy, but his mom sure can cook.
9. S&S holiday party. This was for sure the best work party I've been to. It was at Cabo Wabo on The Strip, the food was amazing, the atmosphere was perfect, and I got to spend most of the evening sitting next to my two bestest friends (Kyle & Sarah). Kyle was understandably bugged with me when we got there for prior interactions, and no sooner had we sat down, he leaned over and said something stupid like, "I better not have to give a speech or anything." I'm laughing so hard as I write this. Who gives speeches at Christmas parties? Well, Kyle doesn't really like being in the spotlight, but too bad. It was his time to shine.
I was busy chatting away with Sarah when he elbowed me and asked if one of my co-workers was alright. I looked over, he looked fine to me, and I kept chatting. Kyle elbowed me again and I told him I would go check. As I walk over, I can tell that maybe something isn't right. I asked another one of my co-workers, who shall go unnamed, and she tells me that he's just dizzy and starts chatting about ... ...... ................ I wasn't paying attention. I walked back over to Kyle, told him I wasn't sure, and he asked me to walk over with him. Next thing I know, Kyle has this guy laying on the floor with his feet propped up, and my boss is calling 911. Kyle's holding the guy's hand, asking him questions, blah, blah blah.... I didn't want to be in the way, so I went back to my seat.
My boss came over and asked if Kyle had any sort of medical background. I couldn't help but laugh at him. How weird would that be bringing my boyfriend to a party, a situation like that starts going down, and he starts pretending like he knows something to the point that he's holding some old guys hand? So weird. The guy ended up being alright after a short hospital visit (new heart medicine and dehydration), but everyone was sure glad that I brought a paramedic to the party.
10. I won some sort of spa package off the radio for Vdara. They called me a few days ago and let me know that I actually won the grand prize. I forgot what the grand prize includes, but it's at least one night stay at the Vdara. That's enough for me! Winnerwinnerchickendinner.
11. The day my Christmas vacation began (Saturday), I woke up with a gnarly cold. That kept me down Saturday and Sunday, but by Monday, I didn't care how I felt. I was not going to spend another minute in the house. Kyle thought he might have to work, but luckily, that ended up not being the case. We ran our errands, went with Kyle's friend Bobby and wandered around Bass Pro, took some pictures, and then spent the evening looking at Christmas lights with his parents, sister, and nephews.
When we got home, just the two of us got to hang out. It was grand! With his work schedule, I really look forward to the nights we get to spend together when we both have the next day off. So relaxing.
12. Christmas didn't feel very Christmasy for some reason, but it was a good day. I had been up all night being sick, so I was anxious for 6 to roll around so I could get up and start making breakfast. Breakfast pizza and cinnamon rolls are a Scott Christmas morning tradition that I will carry on! We quickly opened our presents and rushed over to his parents house to meet the family for when his dad surprised his mom with a trip to the Netherlands and France. It was fun hanging out with all of them, but I was feeling so crummy. I just went home and relaxed for awhile while they all went shooting. Kyle came over and helped me finish his mom's Christmas present until his parents and sister and her boyfriend showed up to go with us to Cabo Wabo for Christmas dinner. I was trying to finish up one little thing and tried covering her present up when I heard them knock on the door. I had make up on, but my hair was a rat's nest and I was wearing PJs. I went and tried to hurry and get ready, but while I was changing, I heard, "Oh, what's this? This is so cute!" I charged the room screaming, "NOOOOOOOOOO! YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO SEE THAT!! THAT'S YOUR CHRISTMAS PRESENT!!!!" Anyone that knows me well knows this isn't all TOO surprising, but I'm fairly reserved around his family, and I think I scared them to death. His mom just stared at me, jaw dropped, with this terrified look on her face. My bad. Merry Christmas! :)
Cabo Wabo wasn't as good as the first time we went and totally overpriced. I'm thinking we won't be back unless it's on my boss again. Kyle's mom and I got our wish and we checked out the Bellagio gardens and fountains before heading home.
13. December 18, 2010, Kyle and I met. A week later, December 25, he invited me to hang out with him for the first time. 2 years. Like any relationship, it's not perfect. He actually is an amazing, kind, thoughtful, fun, smart, funny, perfect, ... pain in my neck. We're a work in progress. You know that Brad Paisley song "Then" though? It's like that. I really feel like I love him more and more everyday. Bible. ;)
