January

I need to be better about updating because though I feel like my life is really mundane sometimes, I remember thinking more than a few times in January "this is really fun/funny and I better not forget to write it down".

The first thing that comes to mind isn't going to Big Bear with Kyle's friends. Though Kyle and I weren't exactly thrilled to be hanging out together that day, I ended up having a really good time! While he went snowboarding, I stayed at the cabin with his friends and hung out. Carl, Valerie, and Lonan are great company! It's always nice to get out of Las Vegas, and though places I've seen in Western Washington, Idaho, and Montana make Big Bear seem eh, it's still a very beautiful place, especially for being so close!

The first thing that does come to mind is the reason why Big Bear was a day trip.

Kyle had been talking about going to the Garth Brooks concert since a month after we started dating. I insisted that tickets were too expensive and not worth it, but he had seen Garth Brooks a few times before and assured me that it was more than worth it. For Christmas, he surprised me with tickets.

Knowing now what I know, if I would have had a 35% off coupon for those tickets, I would have bought one myself, as poor as I am. It's true! His voice was flawless and I couldn't believe how well he played the guitar. In his "retirement", he hasn't been sitting around. Though he played a lot of music that influenced his style (Merle Haggard, George Jones, Billy Joel, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor, etc.), he played a lot of his own songs, as well. "The Thunder Rolls", "Callin' Baton Rouge", "Friends In Low Places", "Papa Loved Mama", "The Dance", "To Make You Feel My Love", "Thicker Than Blood" are some of his songs we heard that night.

Other events from January include:

1. My first time playing bingo for real money! I'm glad Valerie was there to help us figure out what the heck we were supposed to be doing. I'm also glad we were playing with Kyle's money because I don't think I would have left as happy empty-handed if it would have been mine. I think a great rule of thumb is that if you're going to gamble, never use your own money.

2. Watched Kyle and Josh's friends play at Dick's at the Excalibur. I always love live music. Two moments that nobody should have missed-- Josh entering a punching competition on Kyle's dollar, along with Josh's memorable dance to finish off the night.

3. More doctor appointments. A headline in the Las Vegas Sun- "Study ranks Las Vegas as Nation's Second Most Stressful City". I don't question that.

4. Bowling with Kyle, Carl & Valerie

5. Girls night with Kaitlan and Sarah

6. Nashville Unplugged with Kyle, Carl & Valerie

7. My first not 4-H modeling experience can now be viewed online. Watch very, very closely-- http://www.dreamracing.com/

8. Greg and Sarah came over for dinner and games

9. An entire day of laying in bed and watching movies-- that started with a hot fudge sundae at 8 a.m. When Kyle's mom called and asked what I had been up to at 5 p.m., I was not specific other than the fact that I had just gotten out of the shower. It was the weekend though, the weather was terrible, and Kyle was at work. Everyone deserves a completely unproductive day every once in a while.

I don't know. I'll have to ask Kyle. I'm still not feeling that great, so even though I try and suck it up sometimes, we haven't been that fun lately.

Song of the Month:

"We Owned The Night" - Lady Antebellum

How can you not be happy after listening to that song?
