August

Highlights of my month:

1.  Havasupai

This is a must do for anyone that enjoys hiking! It was a perfect first backpacking trip for me-- 10 miles in and 10 miles out! We got to the parking lot where the hike started around 2 a.m. (we left Vegas around 9 p.m.) and all took naps in the car before starting the hike around 5, hoping to beat the heat. We couldn't have asked for better weather! We just set up camp once we got there, swam the rest of the day, swam and hiked around the next day, and then hiked out that night! It was unreal down there and I couldn't have asked for better company! PERFECT TRIP!

2. Dierks Bentley

If I could only listen to 5 artists for the rest of my life, the Beatles wouldn't be on that list. Why? Because I hate the Beatles. Do you know who would be though? Dierks Bentley. Skip the arguments of who had more of an impact in the history of music. I don't really care. Who makes my day better EVERY day? Not the Beatles!

So, it was Randy Houser (meh!), the new Justin Bieber of country music (Hunter? Talented, but not really country), Craig Campbell, and Dierks Bentley. Craig Campbell was really fun, but Dierks always speaks to my crazy, inconsistent, stubborn soul. Love his music. Love his lyrics. Loved his stage presence.

I've had this song of his on repeat all week--

"Here She Comes" - Dierks Bentley

3. Started my new job at an accounting firm! It's really quiet and would have been perfect for me a few years ago, but now, I don't know that it's me! I love being busy though, and have been looking for a side job to balance out the silence.

The week before I started there, I did a side project for one of the CPAs promoting Al Jardine, an original Beach Boy, and his band's show. There's nothing like walking down the Strip when it's well over 100 degrees profiling people to hand out 2 for 1 vouchers!

4. HOME!!

a. 10-hour camping trip at Emigrant Springs State Park (Alexis had volleyball until late, the first campground was full, there was a train stopped on the tracks blocking the road to the other campground, and had to be back by 8:30 the next morning for once again... the princess' volleyball practice. Half of me thinks it wasn't worth it.)

b. Golfing with dad and Dustin
c. Benton-Franklin Fair (FAVORITES-- The rodeo, the food, the smell, the weather, the music, the cowboys, etc. That's when I love the Tri-Cities the most!)
d. Lots of naps, lots of food, lots of family time, and finally got to see some friends that I hadn't seen in forever! Good trip!
